Godfrey Mitande is a highly accomplished development practitioner with over a decade of experience leading impactful programs in the non-profit and public health sectors. As the Senior Program Manager at BRIGHT Tanzania, he provides strategic leadership and technical oversight for gender equality, youth empowerment, and health initiatives across the organization’s national portfolio.
Godfrey brings deep expertise in sexual and reproductive health, adolescent programming, and community-led development. His approach blends policy insight with practical, grassroots implementation ensuring that programs are both effective and inclusive. He is known for designing and managing transformative interventions that leverage media, technology, and youth engagement to address systemic barriers faced by girls and young people.
Before joining BRIGHT Tanzania, Godfrey held key positions at renowned organizations including Girl Effect Tanzania, Engender Health, HJFMRI, TAHEA, and TYVA. In these roles, he successfully led and supported national projects focused on family planning, health systems strengthening, and social behavior change.
